Our Vendors Are Like Family

Writer: harrigansbarnharrigansbarn

This Covid thing is kicking my butt. Just when you think you have it together, something comes up to make you feel off your mark. I had lunch with my dear friend, Janet Duncan. She does business as Prairie Flowers Design, and just has that knack. She can take the most basic of things, like a metal mint box and create a one of a kind work of art. She can take flowers and arrange them into a breath of fresh air. She can provide you with the perfect book in which to store you most precious memories and doll up your suit coat so you can feel beautiful. She just has that knack, and she is my most faithful vendor at Harrigans' Barn. She has been my mentor, my confidant and my friend for many years and I am thankful she is in my corner.

Craig and I just watched an emergency meeting of the Crawford County Commission. There is an alarming increase in Covid cases in Crawford County. They are contemplating their response and their decision, along with the County Health Department, will be announced on Friday. Janet told me yesterday of her concern for the health of her husband. She was unsure what the path would be that they would be taking to find out what was wrong with him, but she wanted me to know that she might not be able to participate. I absolutely understand, but it was yet another curve that I was sad to hear about. I had a message from her today. They have figured out what is wrong and he will have surgery tomorrow. And so now, I pray. I pray for Gerald, and for our local communities. I add to that list another vendor that broke her arm this week. And another vendor that had a branch fall on her and she tore her rotator cuff in her shoulder. Another is recovering from a lung infection. Another one is just home from the hospital after a repeat visit. Honest to Pete, when does this stop? The thing that weighs heavy on me is that my vendors are like my family. Especially these 4 that have been frequent supporters of Harrigans' Barn! I will be thinking of each and every one of them, and keep planning for them to be here on September 12th. I am always optimistic about things coming together, and I will hold them all close to my heart praying they can all enjoy a positive outcome. So, now my task is to bring this post full circle to an informative and uplifting post. Hmmm...

I have an official mitigation plan so we can all gather safely while enjoying each other's creativity. I will welcome these vendors with open arms if they can join us, and will think about them all day on that Saturday if they cannot. We WILL be ready to welcome all to the barn. Masks are required, but fresh air and good fellowship will abound. We WILL host Harrigans' Barn on Saturday, September 12th from 9am to 4pm. If everyone gets to come, I will have 41 vendors just waiting to say hello to you! The timing is right to start your holiday shopping and you will find plenty of ideas here no matter what the need! We are Harrigans' Barn and we are located at 608 S. Sinnet in Girard, Kansas. I feel better now. Thanks for listening. Won't you stop by?
